Northern New Mexico Horsemen's Association
I hope you're sitting down (I know you are if you're at a computer; not so much if you're on a phone/iPad, etc.). Believe it or not, the Northern New Mexico Horsemen's Association has galloped into the 21st Century, thanks to Cindy Roper – we're now on FaceBook! JOIN TODAY! And send Cindy your pictures and event info to post on FaceBook!
I'd like to thank the following people for all their help during the rodeo stall rentals. Without these volunteers, I don't know how we would have done it. And don't forgive me but send me your name if I have left out anyone. —Trish Hug

Website Updates
(as of July 22, 2010)
The May/June Paddock Paper is now online. Our Horsemanship Challenge on Sunday, July 11, was another fun filled day; so good, in fact, if we get enough volunteers to help set up the courses, we plan to have a third show on September 26. Pictures are now posted on our website; some can already be seen on FaceBook (see link above). Go to 2010 Horse Shows to learn more. Continue to update your knowledge and your calendar at Other Equine Activities and In The News. And sell or buy just what you've needed/wanted in Classifieds.
At a permanent position at the bottom of our menu on the left is Emergency Preparedness information, courtesy of Eldon Reyer and the New Mexico Horse Council.
Horses are our passion. Without them we would maybe have a lot of time and money to do something else, but most of us have already made the choice...love 'em and can't leave 'em. And there is one thing we have found out along the way...you can't do it all by yourself.

Upcoming NNMHA Events
July 28th – General Meeting – Karyn Ogonowski from the Enchantment Driving Society will give an overview of carriage driving, a sport for all ages. Driving is something any horse person can take up even after they are older and perhaps cannot sit a horse to ride as often. Driving allows for the idea that we can be 80 and still be going strong with our beloved horses. Karyn will also let us know about the many clinics EDS will be offering this year, from beginners to a Combined Driving Event which includes dressage, cones and obstacles.August 25th – General Meeting – Rick Iannucci, Director of “Horses for Heroes – New Mexico, Inc.”, a unique horse therapy program based in Santa Fe, NM, free to veterans and active military who have sustained physical injuries or combat trauma during their time serving our country. Find out more about their program “Horses for Heroes – Cowboy Up” at www.horsesforheroes.org
History of NNMHA
Over 60 years ago a group of horse lovers got together to form an association now known as Northern New Mexico Horsemen's Association. Thanks to the vision and dedicated hard work by a core group of really terrific folks, the facility off Rodeo Road in Santa Fe is available for a wide range of Association activities. Every year the Association members have put on shows, led trail rides, given out scholarships, held clinics and play days.
There are about as many ways to participate in NNMHA as you might imagine. By volunteering 2-3 days a year at the Association activities (and/or taking part in them) you get to make new friends, learn something new that will help you with your horse, get to show off your pride and joy in the show arena, and even...ride off into the sunset on one of our sponsored trail rides.
Everyone is welcome at NNMHA meetings or activities, member or not. It's a great group to be part of.
